William Byrd: A Portrait
Essex Voices were joined by Chelys Consort of Viols for a programme celebrating 400 years since the death of William Byrd. The programme showcased several facets of Byrd's life, his Catholicism, his ability to write for the new Anglican liturgy and some of the music that was written for private worship and entertainment in the household of Byrd's patrons, the Petre family.
